Description
Boston Ivy has the tremendous asset of being able to rapidly cover a stone, brick, or wooden wall with its showy foliage, but it also has the liability of covering windows and doors with the same degree of vigor, and therefore requires some annual maintenance to keep a mature vine under control. Its tripartite foliage (either three-lobed or composed of three leaflets) is glossy and dark green, turning brilliant shades of scarlet and yellow in the Fall. The fall color of Boston Ivy may be its most outstanding attribute, transitioning through vibrant and glossy shades of yellow, scarlet, and crimson-purple before its abscission in mid- to late Autumn.
